Sam Blackburn excels at fighting fire with fire in Tennessee, whether it’s putting out deadly forest blazes or rescuing his old friend, widow Avery Montague, who’s lost her nerve on a steep mountain cliff. What happened to the daring, adventure-loving teenager who wasn’t afraid of anything? As kids, Avery was always pushing Sam to be brave, to be better, so he’s ready to return the favor. Except he’s up for his dream job in Colorado as a hotshot smoke jumper, and he can’t be in two places at once. His future is fraught with risk, but what’s the point of living if you don’t take chances? He just wants Avery to find the courage to go after what she wants, and he’s hoping it’s him…

cover

Book 3, Lucky Numbers (Rebecca’s Story)

It’s time he lived up to his word

Eleven years ago, Cole Ferguson made the biggest mistake of his life, but now he can finally get back on track. The first step? Nail the job at the local animal shelter and keep his head down. But working at the shelter means spending time with Rebecca Lincoln. Rebecca is beautiful and kind but she’s also determined to save the world. Cole isn’t about to join her. Helping Rebecca would mean breaking his promise—running toward trouble instead of staying clear. She doesn’t need him anyway. How could she ever see him as more than just another charity project?

My #NaNoWriMo plans

DSC_0041NaNoWriMo=National Novel Writing Month (in November)

For everyone who has ever said she wants to write a book.

And for those who have written several books but need a little bit of a kick in the pants (namely, moi).

This year, I have a book that needs to be written. I have an actual, real life synopsis. AND I have an editor’s notes on that golden synopsis and the first three chapters (Harlequin Heartwarming Book 5: The best one yet).

There’s no way I can fail to finish this book in a month. (Frantically knocking on wood)

This is the Before picture of my desk. It’s been cleared of empty Diet Coke cans, dusted, and straightened. The papers are the golden synopsis and editor notes. That candy corn WAS the only candy in the house. It is gone now.

Are you writing, too?

Because I know me, I’m pretty sure I’ll fall short of the finish line, but I’m going to give it a shot. You’re my secret weapon. I’m telling you I’m going to do this in the hopes that it will make me actually do this. I will tweet occasional word count updates and put up a graph (EXCEL nerd!) at some point. Leave me a comment to let me know what you’re working on. Maybe we can run together.
